ABOUT Us
story
Bonjour!
We are excited to welcome you and share more about our journey and aspirations. We are Emma and Marco Angelino, and we've proudly called New Zealand home for over 15 years. We came here with a dream to share our passion for crêpes with Kiwis, and now we're here in Ponsonby, offering authentic and accessible French cuisine for everyone to enjoy.
Our adventure began in Wellington in 2006 under the brand Crêpes A Go Go, where we started with an iconic "hole in the wall" street food boutique in the bustling Courtney Place district. Rapidly becoming one of the top three dessert spots in Wellington, we expanded into a bistro-style crêperie in Petone, enhancing our offerings with local products and organic ingredients. Our next venture brought us to Auckland. After months of night markets and Sunday stalls at Britomart, we found our perfect location for our new project at Ponsonby Central in 2012, shortly after the new complex was established by Andy Davies.
After thriving for many years in the hospitality scene and exploring other interests (digital marketing for Emmanuelle and luxury travel for Marco), we chose to sell the Crêpes A Go-Go brand and focus on just one special place where we can serve what we love most. It was a difficult decision to move on from our "grown-up baby" and all the cherished memories.
In this fusion of street food and bistro-style, our strong desire with Ponsonby Crêpes is to deliver the perfect balance of what we truly love: a casual yet high-quality, family-friendly and well-priced eatery in Ponsonby—perfect for breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, and dessert. We also have a selection of exclusive French wines, authentic dry ciders, and bubbles and more, making it the perfect place for a catch-up or a romantic date.
Our team is very dear to us; we cherish their hard work, dedication, and the outstanding service they provide every day. Feel free to say hello to our beloved manager Melodie or our long time team member Leslie, and meet our French compatriots who are exploring NZ for a few months. Also, don't miss meeting Maurice, our lovable mascot who enjoys cuddles, children's drawings, and being photographed 🙂
We really hope to provide you with a unique, relaxed dining experience thanks to our crêpes and waffles, made from the finest local and imported French ingredients. See you soon!
